Planning for Microgreens #3

Things to Consider

Quantity of Seed to get started

If you are doing this just to try it through one growing cycle, you need about 2 tablespoons of seed for each 1020 tray. But if you want to do this on an ongoing basis you will need to think about how much you want to harvest every week and work backward from there. Two trays a week will provide about 12 oz. of greens/week. That’s about 1 ½ gallon ziplok bags, enough to have microgreens added to your salad or smoothie every day. So calculate what you need for a month’s supply of seed. I would take that amount and split it 3 or 4 ways and grow a mix of brassicas for best flavor and yield.
